I am an artist, creative process facilitator, and teacher, privileged to have grown up in a family of artists; photographers, teachers, designers, painters, and craftsmen. Wonderful times were filled with art making, excursions to exhibits, and creative play.
I have always enjoyed experimenting with materials be it paint, crayons, pencils, markers, fabric, clay, nature objects, and junk. My inspiration comes from living and connection to images, words, people and ideas.
My compulsion to express experience in visual form led to more serious art study including a bachelor’s degree in art education and master’s degree in illustration. As a single mom, I supported my incredibly interesting, talented, independent son and daughter (no bias here-haha), working as an art educator and administrator.
A life filled with experiences in all the arts; including playing an instrument, choreographing synchronized swimming dances, making sets and props for theatre productions, and sewing costumes led me to the realization that the creative process gives voice to our personal and collective stories. Art’s true value is in learning about oneself rather than technical mastery of media.
I spend my time going deeper into intuitive and expressive arts to enhance connections between experience and spirit. Yet the teacher in me is always thinking of ways to inspire and challenge others to find themselves through the creative process.
On my journey, I hope to reflect the compassion and authenticity of my mentors and be gifted with the ability to inspire others.
Facilitating SoulCollage® workshops allows the teacher in me to blend creativity and spirituality. SoulCollage® is an introspective process where one uses intuition to discover compelling images that lead to self-discovery through making collaged cards, journaling and participating in community with others.
